New Millennial Challenges / About Artificial Intelligence... Our nation is experiencing challenging times. There are events that are disconcerting and that divide and worry us as American citizens. My family is blessed to hold spiritual values that reassure and uplift us. You can tell from this website that I find solace in the natural world and deep purpose in my family life. We look to a higher power to guide us in these troubled times. I think there are elements of social media that can distract us and perhaps we presume that more electronic gadgets, “apps,” and “influencer” podcasts hold the answers to our problems. The greatest issues now facing our society are not technological. These cannot be solved by political activism. Artificial Intelligence provides sophisticated answers, but these are nevertheless "artificial" and may be conducive to fakery. Today's most pressing concerns are humanitarian issues that call upon our faith, compassion, and hope.
New Concept: Artigenuity. In the midst of the new millennial excitement and angst about AI, I decided to consolidate my research and my thinking into a helpful repository of AI-related ideas. I went searching for new domain names directly related to "AI." These were long gone. Next, I synthesized my own new word that ties together several key concepts of Human Intelligence...
Artificial Intelligence + Artisanal Ingenuity + I Am = Artigenuity. In October 2023, the term "Artigenuity" was born as the domain name of my earlier website, Artigenuity.com. This page of this website now holds the essence of my previous online writings. Foundational words and concepts are as follows:
- Artisan: a worker in a skilled trade, one that involves making things by hand and by heart.
- Ingenuity: the quality of being clever, original, and inventive.
- Genuity: not fake or counterfeit; original; real; authentic...of being genuine.
What It Means to Say, "I Am." No data-mining machine can possibly define (or diminish) what it means when I say, "I AM me"—to capture the sense and sensibility, the soulfulness, and the sorrow of being human. You must sit alone in a busy train station as passengers scurry by in every direction, feel the joy as a string ensemble performs Pachelbel's Canon, observe the frenzied traders on the New York Stock Exchange floor, escort your teenager to high school graduation, admire the cabinetmaker who runs his thumb along the edge of a new mahogany table, go wading in a babbling brook with a 4-year-old, feel your heart ache at the image of earthquake survivors reaching upward from the rubble then pulled to safety, and bow your head in gratitude for food enough on the supper table tonight.
MY PURPOSE: To Honor Humanity as the Tide of Technology Rises...and to introduce a sublime yet powerful new word: Artigenuity. The discussion at this website will acknowledge (a) the genius of computational analytics, (b) the delight of human craftsmanship, and (c) the finesse of the human touch--what inspiration and compassion can create. This page of this site is not so much about INTELLECT. It is more about the TALENT humans possess that cannot be simulated or replaced. It is about the EMPATHY we feel, and the humanitarian things we do for each other. We will applaud Artificial Intelligence and yet use it with caution. We will delight in Artisanal Ingenuity and enjoy it. We will forever champion the reality and the true origins of "I Am."

Computers are our valued friends, but our relationship with these as modern Americans may be over the top.
